Hap is the founding principal and established IMCI in 1993.  He is a nationally known professional liability specialist with 27 years experience serving architects and engineers for professional liability insurance and risk management.  Hap has various industry publications on Risk Management and has been instrumental in developing several risk management publications including “Essential First Steps to a Claims Free Practice”.   Hap has been a top insurance specialist with DPIC, CNA/Schinnerer and other carriers.  Hap is a member of the board for Construction Professional Network of North Carolina.  In 1973 Hap received his B.A. degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.  He and his wife Cathy reside in the Lake Norman, NC area.

Stephen is a native of Charlotte whose father and grandfather are both practicing principals of a large engineering firm.  He received his B.S.B.A in Finance/Risk Management & Insurance with a minor in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  In 2002, he also studied International Business at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.  He is a licensed property & liability insurance agent and is currently working on his Certified Risk Management and Register Professional Liability Underwriter designations.  In his free time he enjoys reading, intramural sports and fishing.

Loys joined IMCI in 2001 after spending four years at Victor O. Schinnerer & Co. as an A&E professional liability insurance underwriter and claims analyst.  He also served as a state risk claims adjustor for the State of Louisiana Office of Risk Management.  Loys specializes in professional liability insurance for Architects & Engineers.  Loys is a licensed insurance property & liability insurance agent and is currently working towards the designation of Register Professional Liability Underwriter.  Loys graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.  He and his wife, Melanie, reside in Huntersville, NC with their three children, Liam, Quinn and Aaron.

Karen has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years.  She started her career in personal lines, moved to commercial insurance and then in 1999 she began to specialize in professional liability for Architects, Engineers, Environmental, CPAs and Lawyers.  In 2001, Karen received the DPIC “producer of the year” award.  Karen is a licensed insurance property & liability insurance agent, a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), a Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA), and a Certified Workers Compensation Professional (CWCP).  She is currently working on her Certified Risk Management and Register Professional Liability Underwriter designations.  Karen is a member of the Society for Design Administers and is on the CANstruction committee.   Karen and her husband, Doug, have relocated from Michigan and now reside in Concord, NC. They have two sons, Ryan and Reece.  Besides spending time with her family and friends, Karen enjoys traveling.

Beth, a native of North Carolina, joined IMCI in August of 1995 as a CSR.  Becoming a licensed property and casualty agent, she specializes in professional liability insurance for Architects, Engineers, Accountants and Financial Advisers.   She also holds a life and health insurance license.  Beth graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana.  Beth enjoys her family: husband of 45 years, two children and five grandchildren.  Her extra activities consist of traveling, bridge and spending her weekends at their mountain cabin.

Cindy Walker, Bookkeeper

Cindy does the bookkeeping for the agency, as well as sending out renewal applications, renewal invoices, and other support duties.  She joined IMCI in July 1999, and has enjoyed seeing the agency grow.  When she isn’t at work she enjoys flying with her husband of 30 years, and doing genealogy and scrap booking.  She has two grown children who live in the area.

Debbie is our most in demand employee because she issues all our clients certificates of insurance.  Joining IMCI in March of 2006 and coming from the other side of this business, requesting certificates, she now has a new perspective on certificates of insurance.  Debbie and her husband, Jim recently relocated from Pittsburgh, PA and now resides in Cornelius, NC.  They “collectively”, have six children and two grandchildren.   Besides keeping busy with her family and friends, Debbie enjoys walking, exploring NC and Interior Design.

Nina joined IMCI in 2006 to assist Cindy in bookkeeping and other support duties.  Her years of experience in these important areas will be asset to IMCI and our clients.  Nina has a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She resides in Sherrills Ford, NC and has two grown sons and two grandchildren.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking, skiing and camping.
